I always knew there was a "word" for how I felt, but never thought to actually find out what that was until recently. If you know me — you know I’m singing a song, “making a beat”, or thinking of sounds in my head 90% of the time, in lieu of thinking about whatever’s on the surface. Depending on who or what somebody’s talmbout, I’ll even respond with song lyrics or tune them out completely, cuz the music's more important 😁.
While listening to music one day, as I routinely do, I googled "what do you call somebody that likes music more than people?"...
For this project I wanted to use 90s R&B for inspo. As a kid, I always liked when artist dropped a remix, especially remixes that sound nothing like the original. Different sounds, tempo, bounce, melody etc.. We don’t get a lot of remixes in that fashion these days, and if we kick’n stack, kinfolks are running mash ups to to the dirt.
MELOMANIAC is a small collections of some flips and remakes I’ve done for a few R&B joints I like. Press play and dance.
